  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.25 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks.
  2. Drain any excess fat, then stir in tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add frozen vegetables and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  5. Mix warm mashed potatoes with butter and milk until smooth.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes over the beef layer, smoothing the top.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes or until the potatoes are lightly golden.
