Ingredients
  

  • 1 batch homemade unsweetened cornbread, crumbled
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 3–4 cups chicken broth, warmed
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Brown sausage in a skillet until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and celery in sausage drippings until soft.
  4. Combine crumbled cornbread, sausage, vegetables, sage, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  5. Gradually add warm broth, stirring gently until moist but not soupy.
  6. Transfer mixture to baking dish, cover, and bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Uncover and bake 15–20 minutes more until golden on top.

Notes

Use unsweetened cornbread for authentic flavor and add broth gradually to avoid sogginess.
