Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch square or 9-inch round pan.
  2. Peel, core, and chop apples into even pieces and set aside.
  3. Whisk melted butter, sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add vanilla if using.
  4. Fold in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt just until combined.
  5. Fold in apples, transfer batter to pan, and bake 35–40 minutes until golden and set.
