Ingredients
  

  • 4 large Russet potatoes
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional chopped green onions, crispy bacon bits, sour cream, or hot sauce

Method
 

  1. Wash, peel, and cut potatoes into uniform sticks about ¼ to ½ inch thick.
  2. Soak potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
  3. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread fries evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese over par-cooked fries.
  6. Broil for 2-5 minutes until cheese melts and forms a golden crust.
  7. Add optional toppings and serve immediately.
