Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (swirl)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (glaze)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in toasted pecans.
  6. Layer batter with cinnamon-sugar swirl in the pan and gently swirl with a knife.
  7. Bake for 55–65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool, then drizzle with glaze if desired.
