Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Method
 

  1. Cook bowtie pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown Italian sausage in a large skillet, breaking into crumbles.
  3. Add onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer.
  5. Stir in cream and simmer gently until thickened.
  6. Add cooked pasta and Parmesan, tossing until well coated.
