Ingredients
  

  • 4 large Russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1.5 teaspoons sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • butter, for serving

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Scrub potatoes clean, dry thoroughly, and prick several times with a fork.
  3. Rub potatoes with oil or butter and sprinkle generously with salt.
  4. Bake directly on the oven rack for 50–60 minutes until crisp outside and tender inside.
  5. Slice open, fluff the inside, and serve with butter and optional pepper.
