Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars, then beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Mix in sour cream, then gently fold in dry ingredients.
  5. Fold in apples and nuts, transfer to pan, and bake until set and golden.
