  • 0.33 cup cold shortening or butter
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Cut cold shortening or butter into dry ingredients until crumbly.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir just until dough forms.
  5. Turn dough onto floured surface and gently pat to even thickness.
  6. Cut biscuits and place close together on baking sheet.
  7. Bake until golden and fluffy.
