Ingredients
  

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • powdered sugar, for dusting

Method
 

  1. Bake puff pastry sheets flat until golden and crisp. Cool completely.
  2. Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks. Gradually add milk.
  3. Cook custard over medium heat, stirring, until thick. Stir in vanilla and butter.
  4. Spread custard over one pastry sheet and top with second sheet.
  5. Chill until set, dust with powdered sugar, and slice.
