Ingredients
  

  • 2 lb potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk. Season and keep warm.
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and garlic to beef and cook until softened.
  4. Sprinkle flour over beef mixture and cook 1 minute.
  5. Slowly stir in beef broth and simmer until thickened. Add vegetables if using.
  6. Serve gravy hot over mashed potatoes.
