Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef with onion in a skillet until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk to form a smooth sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layer sliced potatoes and ground beef in a greased baking dish.
  4. Pour sauce evenly over layers. Cover and bake at 375°F until potatoes are tender.
  5. Uncover and bake until set and lightly golden. Rest before serving.
