Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 oz)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 can tomato paste (8 oz)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef with diced onion in a large pot over medium heat until cooked through.
  2. Drain excess grease, then stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, beans, water, and spices.
  3. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook uncovered for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving hot.
