Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method
 

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in flour and baking powder to form a soft dough.
  3. Press two-thirds of the dough into a greased baking pan.
  4. Mix remaining dough with milk, spread over base, then crumble dough on top.
  5. Bake at 350°F until lightly golden. Cool completely before slicing.
