Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix flour, powdered sugar, butter, and salt. Press into pan and bake 15–18 minutes.
  3. Whisk milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla in a saucepan.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  5. Pour custard over baked shortbread and smooth top.
  6. Refrigerate until fully set, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
