Ingredients
  

  • 3 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 pie crusts (top and bottom)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Toss apples with sugars, spices, lemon juice, flour, and cornstarch.
  3. Cook apple mixture over medium heat until slightly softened and glossy.
  4. Transfer filling to prepared bottom crust and dot with butter.
  5. Top with second crust, seal edges, and vent. Bake 45–55 minutes until golden.
