Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 cups cubed stale bread
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins or nuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Place cubed bread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
  4. Pour custard over bread and let sit for 5 minutes to absorb.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes until set and lightly golden.
