Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for cake)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and melt butter in a cake pan.
  2. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over butter and arrange pecans on top.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt, then add alternately with milk.
  5. Spread batter over pecan topping and smooth the top.
  6. Bake 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool 10 minutes, then invert cake onto a serving plate.
