Ingredients
  

  • 3 lb apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 2 prepared pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar for topping

Method
 

  1. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a lined baking sheet. Chill briefly.
  2. Toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until coated.
  3. Spread apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  4. Place second crust on top, seal edges, and cut vents.
  5. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar, and bake until golden and bubbly.
