Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in buttermilk until dough just comes together. Shape and bake 12–15 minutes.
  4. Brown sausage in a skillet. Sprinkle with flour and cook 1 minute.
  5. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Simmer until thick. Season to taste.
