Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 6 oz tortilla chips, crushed
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (optional)
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and a splash of water. Add optional beans or tomatoes if using. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  4. Layer half the crushed tortilla chips in the baking dish. Top with beef mixture, sour cream if using, and half the cheese.
  5. Add remaining tortilla chips and finish with the rest of the cheese.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
