- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in taco seasoning and a splash of water. Add optional beans or tomatoes if using. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
- Layer half the crushed tortilla chips in the baking dish. Top with beef mixture, sour cream if using, and half the cheese.
- Add remaining tortilla chips and finish with the rest of the cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
