Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, mashed
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp water (as needed)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk. Add to dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Mix powdered sugar, mashed strawberries, lemon juice, and water until smooth.
  6. Pour glaze over cooled cake and allow to set before serving.

Notes

Allow the cake to cool completely before glazing. Adjust glaze thickness gradually for best results.
