Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Beat butter until creamy, then add sugars and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a smooth dough forms.
  6. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, flatten slightly, and bake 10–12 minutes.
  7. Cool briefly on baking sheets, then transfer to racks. Decorate if desired.

Notes
