Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.75 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 3 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Cut cold butter into the dry ingredients until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Stir in milk until a soft dough forms.
  5. Divide dough into rolls, place on baking sheet, and bake 12–15 minutes until golden.
  6. Brush hot rolls with melted butter and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm with butter. Buttermilk adds extra tenderness but milk works too.
