Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a cast-iron skillet or baking dish.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in cheese and ham, then add buttermilk just until combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into pan and pour melted butter over the top.
  5. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed. Rest briefly before serving.
