A tender, slow-braised beef roast cooked with dry onion soup mix and condensed beef consommé to create a rich, savory au jus.

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 lb Boneless Beef Roast
  • 1 packet Dry Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 can Condensed Beef Consomme
  • 1/2 tsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F and lightly grease a Dutch oven or heavy baking dish.
  2. Pat the roast dry and season with black pepper.
  3. Rub half of the onion soup mix over the roast.
  4. Mix remaining soup mix with condensed beef consommé.
  5. Place roast in pot and pour consommé mixture around it.
  6. Cover tightly and bake for 3.5 to 4 hours.
  7. Remove roast and rest for 15 minutes.
  8. Slice or shred and serve with the au jus.

Notes

For best results, use chuck roast and keep the pot tightly covered throughout cooking.
