- In a large bowl, blend together cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and vanilla. Toss this mix with the chopped apples until they’re evenly coated, then spread them into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- In the same bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir together and then sprinkle this dry mixture evenly over the apple layer you just prepared.
- Pour the melted butter over the entire topping, ensuring the mixture is well-coated. Tilt the pan if necessary to cover any dry spots.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, watching for the topping to turn golden brown and the apple mixture to become bubbly.
- Once baked, let it cool slightly. Serve warm, either on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
