Steps
  1. Start by cutting the 2 pounds of beef steak into 1-inch cubes and dicing 4 medium potatoes. Soak the potatoes in cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch.
  2. Place the cubed steak at the bottom of the crockpot, then layer the diced potatoes on top. Pour in 1 cup of beef broth, along with 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon each of garlic and onion powder, and season with salt and pepper. Gently stir to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Cover the crockpot, adjusting the setting to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  4. Once the cooking time is up, stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 1 cup of sour cream until melted and nicely incorporated. Garnish with ½ cup of chopped green onions before serving.
