How to Make Maple Donut Bars
- In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground nutmeg until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients using a spatula until just combined.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Sift powdered sugar into a bowl and mix in pure maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Once the bars are cooled, pour the glaze over the top and add your favorite toppings.
- Let the glaze set for 30 minutes to 1 hour, then cut into squares and serve.
