How to Make Maple Donut Bars
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground nutmeg until well blended.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients using a spatula until just combined.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Sift powdered sugar into a bowl and mix in pure maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  8. Once the bars are cooled, pour the glaze over the top and add your favorite toppings.
  9. Let the glaze set for 30 minutes to 1 hour, then cut into squares and serve.
