How to Make the Best Bread Pudding Recipe
- Soak the raisins in rum for about 1-2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a large bowl, mix half of the milk with the bread cubes, pressing down until soaked.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, remaining milk, sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Fold into soaked bread and mix in raisins.
- Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour the mixture evenly.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden-brown edges and a soft center.
- In a saucepan, heat cream, butter, and vanilla sugar until bubbling. Whisk in tempered egg yolks to thicken.
- Serve warm bread pudding with vanilla custard sauce on top.
