Ingredients

For the Bread
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Consider using coconut sugar for a lower glycemic option.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Pumpkin spice can be a fun variation.
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar White sugar can be swapped with stevia for a sugar-free delight.
  • 1/2 cup Butter (softened) Opt for unsalted butter or coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 2 large Eggs Flax eggs are a great vegan alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Pure vanilla extract is best.
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Substituting with whole wheat flour may change the texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder If using self-rising flour, be cautious with additional salt.
  • 1 cup Milk Almond or oat milk can work as dairy-free substitutes.
  • 2 cups Apples (peeled and chopped) Granny Smith or Honeycrisp offer the best sweet-tart balance.
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar Consider a sugar substitute for a low-sugar version.
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (for glaze) Any milk alternative can be used here.

Method

How to Make Apple Fritter Bread
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture, blending until fully combined.
  5. Whisk together the flour and baking powder in another bowl. Gradually mix this dry blend into the wet ingredients along with the milk.
  6. Toss the chopped apples with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  7. Layer half of the batter into the greased loaf pan, followed by half of the apple mixture and half of the cinnamon-sugar mix. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Bake in your preheated oven for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool the loaf in the pan for about 20 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  10. Glaze by combining powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread, slice it up, and serve.
