- Prepare Chicken: Start by placing the chicken breasts in your crockpot. Sprinkle with smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Layer the diced onion and minced garlic on top.
- Add Liquids and Cook: Pour the barbecue sauce and chicken broth over the chicken. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- Shred and Combine: Remove the chicken from the crockpot and shred it using two forks. Return it to the pot and stir to coat with the sauce, cooking on low for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Optionally, toast the buns. Spoon the BBQ chicken mixture onto the buns and add desired toppings.
