  • 1 lb ground beef (lean) Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium if you prefer)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional) Adjust to your spice preference.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower) Feel free to use any type of cooked rice.
Optional Toppings
  • 1 cup green onions, sliced For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish.
  • 1 cup shredded carrots For garnish.
  • 1 cup cucumber slices For garnish.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Let everything simmer for 2–3 minutes so the flavors can soak in.
  4. Serve hot over cooked rice and top with your favorite veggies, sesame seeds, or green onions.

Notes
