  • 2 cups tortilla chips Broken into pieces.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar You can also use government cheese-style substitute.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 onion chopped Adds flavor to the beef mixture.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning For seasoning the ground beef.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Optional topping.
  • sliced jalapeños Optional topping for extra heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Brown ground beef and onion in a skillet. Drain fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and salsa; simmer for 5 minutes.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Layer chips in a casserole dish, top with beef mixture and cheese.
  2. Repeat layers if needed. Bake for 15–20 minutes until bubbly.
  3. Serve with sour cream and jalapeños if desired.
