Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Method
 

  1. Whisk warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, melted butter, and egg, then mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let dough rise until doubled in size.
  5. Shape dough into rolls, place on baking sheet, brush with butter, and top with cheese.
  6. Bake until golden and cheese is melted. Cool slightly and serve warm.
