Ingredients
  

For the Cherry Bombs
  • 12 pieces maraschino cherries with stems, drained and patted dry
  • 1.5 cups white chocolate chips or white candy melts Use quality chocolate for best flavor.
  • 0.25 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes Work quickly when sprinkling peppermint.
  • few drops drops red food coloring (optional) For decorative drizzle.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Drain the maraschino cherries well and gently pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess liquid.
Melting Chocolate
  1. Microwave the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth or melt over a double boiler on low heat.
Dipping Cherries
  1. Holding each cherry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate until it’s about ¾ covered.
  2. Immediately sprinkle crushed peppermint over the chocolate before it sets.
Setting Cherries
  1. Place the dipped cherries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them sit at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
Optional Drizzle
  1. Mix a drop or two of red food coloring into leftover melted chocolate and drizzle it over the set cherries.

Notes
